Intro ImageRecently, “Russian on the Side” at the Marines Memorial Theatre in San Francisco. Last season on Broadway he produced “Grey Gardens the musical” (Ten TONY nominations including Best Musical), “Spalding Gray: Stories Left to Tell” at the Minetta Lane Theatre off-Broadway. Previously, “Bridge & Tunnel” on Broadway by and with Sarah Jones (2006 Special TONY Award®), Theresa Rebeck’s “Bad Dates” at The Laguna Playhouse directed by Judith Ivey and “Palm Beach” at The La Jolla Playhouse directed by Des McAnuff. In 2004, the multi-award-winning “Bat Boy The Musical” at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London and “Sarah Jones Bridge & Tunnel” at The Culture Project in New York. In 2001 he produced “Bat Boy The Musical” at the Union Square Theater in New York and that same year the national tour of “Save It For The Stage: The Life Of Reilly,” written and starring TONY Award®-winning Charles Nelson Reilly.

In 2003 Mr. Alden completed Stephen Daldry’s THE HOURS for Scott Rudin. Under his own banner, he produced the multi-award-winning hit comedy, KISSING JESSICA STEIN, and Ralph Ziman’s feature foreign film, THE ZOOKEEPER starring Sam Neill.

A native of Southern California, Mr. Alden began his career on the stage and in motion pictures and television at an early age. As a child actor, he appeared in numerous family shows during the late fifties and early sixties. In 1977 Mr. Alden stepped behind the scenes working in various aspects of production. Taking advantage of stage and technical training, he served his apprenticeship in the feature film make-up and wardrobe departments and as a production assistant.

In 1984 Mr. Alden joined Cannon Films in their post production department. Quickly moving up the ranks, 1986 found him supervisor of the department, overseeing the creative and technical post-production of over one hundred feature films.

Mr. Alden assumed Vice Presidency at Pathe Communications in 1989, where he headed the public post production facility, Pathe Services. He served as a corporate officer of the newly formed company, taking them into profit their first year. During his term at Pathe, Mr. Alden was instrumental in locating, analyzing and supervising the rejuvenation of over 1500 original feature elements stored worldwide. These feature elements served as the equity foundation for Pathe’s purchase of MGM/UA.

After relocating to New York, Mr. Alden served as Associate Producer on Warner Bros. JUST CAUSE starring Sean Connery. That same year he produced the award-winning UnZIPPED for Miramax. In 1997 he served as the Associate Producer on William Devizia’s LESSER PROPHETS for October Films.

Mr. Alden is one of the proud producers of the 1997-98 off-Broadway and Los Angeles productions of the Brochu/Schalchlin musical “The Last Session.” The production was nominated for New York’s Drama League and New York Outer Critic’s Circle Awards and is the recipient of the GLAAD Media Award for Best Theatrical Production, six Backstage West Garland Awards and four Los Angeles Drama Critic’s Circle Awards. In 1999, Mr. Alden co-presented the Los Angeles production of the award-winning “Howard Crabtree’s When Pigs Fly” at the Coronet Theater.

Michael Alden Productions recently opened their own marketing division, ADVENTURE SCREENS HYPERLINK "HTTP://WWW.ADVENTURESCREENS.COM" WWW.ADVENTURESCREENS.COM a multi media back pack used for on the street guerilla marketing. For 2009, Mr. Alden is preparing the Broadway premiere of “Palm Beach” directed by Des McAnuff and “My Brilliant Divorce” directed by Jerry Zaks.
